The Shire of Isenfir is the local group of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) for the central Virginia area, including Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Nelson County, Waynesboro, Staunton, Harrisonburg, and Augusta and Rockingham Counties. The SCA is an international, non-profit, educational organization dedicated to the study and selective re-creation of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Members attend events where they wear period clothing and assume period personas in order to learn in a more firsthand way what some aspects of medieval life were like. The SCA holds numerous regional and local events, and most groups also have a variety of local activities, some "in garb," some not.
The Shire of Isenfir has a thriving social schedule with activities to suit many tastes! We dance! We do Archery! We sew! We game!
As of April 2022, we are doing some activities in person and some virtual. Please reach out to IsenfirWelcome@gmail.com for more information to find out the week by week location. We adjust our meetings based on guidance by site, local, State, and SCA rules.

Join the Shire of Isenfir at an Elizabethan themed Tavern complete with games of chance, dancing, and a fabulous feast! This is a rotation/continuation of the previous events of Gemulitchplatz then a Viking Mead Hall. This intimate site features cozy trails, lots of outdoor space, and rustic hall. A great chance to relax, socialize with friends, and rest along your journey through Elizabethan England.
For more information about Isenfir or the SCA, take a look at the Newcomer Information area, where you can request more information or browse the Kingdom Chatelaine's site. The Shire also maintains an email list for group discussions and announcements, which is a fine way to keep informed about the goings-on of the group, as nearly every activity is announced there. For more information, take a look at the Isenfir Mailing Lists page.
